Type strain for newly identified rickettsial species, isolated from an Ixodes ovatus tick nymph in Fukushima prefecture, Japan, in 1993. The preparation available from ATCC may be contaminated with mycoplasma based on PCR results. No information is available about the possible pathogenicity of this organism for vertebrate hosts.

Intracytoplasmic and intranuclear growth visible following staining with Gimenez stain.
CPE in the form of cell rounding and sloughing of infected cells.
