    Applications:

    Mesenchymal Stem Cell Basal Medium for Adipose, Umbilical and Bone Marrow-derived MSCs is a sterile, phenol red-free, liquid tissue culture medium intended for use as one component in a complete ATCC® Primary Cell Solutions™ system. This low serum (2% FBS) system is designed to support mesenchymal stem cells derived from various normal human tissues including lipoaspirates and umbilical cord. Mesenchymal Stem Cell Basal Medium for Adipose, Umbilical and Bone Marrow-derived MSCs contains essential and non-essential amino acids, vitamins, other organic compounds, trace minerals and inorganic salts. To support the proliferation and plating efficiency of various types of adult stem cells, Mesenchymal Stem Cell Basal Medium must be supplemented with the appropriate cell-specific growth kit. When using this complete media system, the growth of undifferentiated mesenchymal stem cells is supported without the use of feeder layers, extracellular matrix proteins or other substrates. 

    1. For mesenchymal stem cells derived from human lipoaspirates (e.g., Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells; Normal, Human, ATCC PCS-500-011) or umbilical cord (Umbilical Cord-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells; Normal, Human, ATCC PCS-500-010), supplement Mesenchymal Stem Cell Basal Medium for Adipose, Umbilical and Bone Marrow-derived MSCs with the Mesenchymal Stem Cell Growth Kit for Adipose and Umbilical-derived MSCs –Low serum (ATCC PCS-500-040).
    2. For mesenchymal stem cells derived from bone marrow (Bone Marrow-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells; Normal, Human, ATCC PCS-500-012) supplement Mesenchymal Stem Cell Basal Medium for Adipose, Umbilical and Bone Marrow-derived MSCs with the Mesenchymal  Stem Cell Growth Kit for Bone Marrow-derived MSCs (ATCC PCS-500-041)
    3. Optional media supplements:

    Stem Cell Dissociation Reagent is a neutral protease isolated from Bacillus polymyxa that promotes safe and efficient detachment of human embryonic stem cells (hESC) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) during subcultivation in cell culture. The gentle proteolytic action of the reagent does not damage the cell membrane and supports the growth of hiPSCs in an undifferentiated state. Serum does not inhibit the activity of the reagent. Stem Cell Dissociation Reagent is suitable for hESCs and hiPSCs cultured in feeder-free and feeder-dependent conditions.

    Mouse ES Cell Basal Medium is a sterile liquid tissue culture  medium containing phenol red that has been optimized to  support the undifferentiated self-renewal cycle related to  mouse embryonic stem cell growth.

    The medium contains a stable glutamine dipeptide, providing  a long shelf-life when handled and stored properly medium may be supplemented by addition of ES-Cell  Qualified Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) or a serum replacement  designed for mouse ES cells. This medium can support the growth of mouse ES cells on  either a mitotically inactivated layer of mouse embryonic  fibroblast (MEF) feeder cells, or in a feeder-free environment using gelatin-coated plates.
