    Applications:

    MCDB 131 Medium provides a defined and nutritionally balanced environment for mammalian cell culture. The medium includes trace elements and higher levels of certain vitamins and amino acids compared to basal medium. MCDB 131 Medium was originally developed for human microvascular endothelial cell (HUVEC) culture, but supports the growth of other cell types, including hepatocytes, smooth muscle cells, and cardiac myocytes.

    Comments: Supplement with glutamine prior to use. For vascular endothelial cells, 10 mM glutamine (final concentration) is recommended. For other cell lines, 2 mM glutamine (final concentration) is generally required; however, the optimal concentration is dependent on your cell line of interest.

    Applications: General culture conditions to maintain undifferentiated,  pluripotent mouse ES cells are now well established, and  incremental improvements, such as the development of  Mouse ES Cell Basal Medium, are key to the ongoing  success of stem cell research.

    Mouse ES Cell Basal Medium is a sterile liquid tissue culture  medium containing phenol red that has been optimized to  support the undifferentiated self-renewal cycle related to  mouse embryonic stem cell growth.

    The medium contains a stable glutamine dipeptide, providing  a long shelf-life when handled and stored properly medium may be supplemented by addition of ES-Cell  Qualified Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) or a serum replacement  designed for mouse ES cells. This medium can support the growth of mouse ES cells on  either a mitotically inactivated layer of mouse embryonic  fibroblast (MEF) feeder cells, or in a feeder-free environment using gelatin-coated plates.

  • RPMI Medium without Phenol Red without L-Glutamine (ATCC® 30-2602)

    Applications:

    RPMI 1640 is a modification of McCoy’s 5A medium that contains a higher concentration of inositol. The medium is commonly used with mammalian myeloma and hybridoma cells. This formulation does not contain phenol red or L-glutamine.
