Photo Contest 2021

Your research is incredible

We invite you to submit photos of your amazing research featuring the application of any ATCC culture. We're looking for your most beautiful, striking, or scientifically exciting images that demonstrate how you have used ATCC cell lines, hTERT-immortalized cell lines, primary cells, stem cells, bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeast, or protists toward the advancement of science.

Six winners!

Six (6) winners* will be selected based on the categories below, and each will receive a $300.00 gift card (or a $300.00 ATCC product credit). Winners will be announced on the ATCC website on or before June 29, 2021.

Most Popular Photograph Award – Two (2) images chosen by public voting on atcc.org ($300 to each winner - 1 cell and 1 micro image).

ATCC Excellence Photograph Award - Four (4) images chosen by ATCC judges ($300 to each winner - 2 cell and 2 micro image).

Judges

There will be two categories: the ATCC Excellence Photograph Award and the Most Popular Photograph Award. In both categories, entries should be of scientific relevance to the ATCC Microbiology and Cell Biology collections.

ATCC Excellence Photograph Award

A panel of ATCC staff ("Judges") will select two (4) eligible entries (two [2] image for each collection, Microbiology and Cell Biology) based on the following criteria ("Judging Criteria"):

  1. Scientific relevance will count for fifty percent (50%)
  2. Photographic quality, originality, creativity, and beauty will count for fifty percent (50%)

Most Popular Photograph Award

Two (2) images with the most public votes via the ATCC website (www.atcc.org) will be awarded prizes according to rank (one [1] image for each collection, Microbiology and Cell Biology).

ATCC may eliminate any votes, at its sole discretion, for violation or perceived violation of the Official Rules. If there is a tie among images receiving the highest number of votes, the votes of a designated panel of ATCC staff will break the tie.

Winners* will be chosen on or around June 16, 2021, and notified by email on or around June 29, 2021. Winners will be announced on the ATCC website on or around June 29, 2021. Receipt of prizes and official classification as a Winner is subject to all conditions and terms of these Official Rules. Individuals not meeting these terms are subject to disqualification with the selection of an alternate winner. This decision is final and binding.

Prizes

Six (6) winners* will each receive a three hundred dollar ($300) VISA® Gift Card. Only one winning photograph will be chosen per entry. If you cannot receive a cash reward, ATCC will issue the three hundred and fifty dollar ($300) award as an ATCC product credit that can be applied toward purchasing ATCC products.

No prize transfer, assignment, or substitution by winners is permitted. If a prize (or part of a prize) is unavailable, then ATCC, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to substitute the original prize (or that part of the prize) with an alternative prize that is equal to the monetary value and/or specification, unless to do so would be prohibited by law. NONCOMPLIANCE OR RETURN OF THE PRIZE NOTIFICATION AS UNDELIVERABLE, WHETHER BY REGULAR MAIL OR BY EMAIL, MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION AND THE SELECTION OF AN ALTERNATE WINNER.
