Angiogenesis is critical to maintaining the circulation of blood to and from the cells of the body. ATCC provides primary cell cultures, cell lines, and assay-ready kits to aid in the study of angiogenesis.
In angiogenesis, new vasculature sprouts from existing blood vessels. This process occurs naturally during growth and healing; it provides newly formed or repaired tissues with a consistent blood flow for the delivery of gasses and nutrients as well as the removal of waste products. Tumors take advantage of this process by secreting vascular growth factors, causing excessive blood vessels to grow into the tumor. In contrast, in coronary artery disease, stroke, and chronic wounds there is an insufficiency of blood vessel growth. Moreover, in diseases such as diabetes, both exaggerated and inadequate angiogenesis may occur in the same patient. To support angiogenesis research, ATCC offers:
- An assay-ready, high-throughput angiogenesis kit
- hTERT-immortalized endothelial cells and mesenchymal stem cells
- Cell matrix gels to support angiogenic tubule formation
- Primary vascular endothelial and smooth muscle cells
These products support the formation of vascular structures in vitro, which may be used in disease pathogenesis research, toxicological screening assays, or drug development studies. Browse our angiogenesis resources below, or visit www.atcc.org/cardio for more.
Angio-Ready™ Assay Ready System
Angio-Ready™ is an assay-ready, single-use kit designed for the high-throughput monitoring of angiogenesis. This kit comprises the ideal ratio of GFP-expressing hTERT-immortalized endothelial cells pre-mixed with hTERT-immortalized mesenchymal stem cells, and is supplied with complete growth medium. Angio-Ready does not require antibodies, and it is dyeless, matrixless, and easy to perform in a 96-well plate.
